Episode 49: Professionalism & Celebrating the Work Over the Results

Episode 49: Professionalism & Celebrating the Work Over the Results

At goodr, we teach ownership and demand professionalism. The more prepared you are, the more fun you can have. In this episode, SDL and Shaun talk about celebrating the work over the results, the importance of fundamentals, the need for scalability, why we call sloppy work "salty feet," and the powerful experience of leading a Storytelling Workshop. (Eight employees spent four months learning how to deliver 15-minute presentations to the entire company! And they all CRUSHED IT.)

Hey! Hey! Are you dying with curiosity to know the meaning of salty feet?! I GOT YOU!!!

"One of our goals is to hire the fewest number of people coached to the highest level," says SDL. " We give people the tools to be professional... Flamingos, if they don't move quickly enough on salt flats, their feet salt up and they break off and die. You do not want salty feet. It is a bad thing... But it is [also] a really fun way to address something that's sloppy without being a dick about it. We're a really self-aware, self-governing company. So all the time, I'll even do it like like, 'oh, man, salty feet on this, I'm sorry.'"

Wow!!! I didn't know flamingos' feet break off when they get salty!!! That sucks!!! Hey! Hey! Hey! Will my feet fall off if they get salty?! Will they? Will they? Huh? I gotta find some salt to rub my ghost feet in!!! See you next week!!! I love you!
